The Bridge of Sighs holds a special place in Oxford student life, as it witnesses two of the most important ceremonies of their studies.

Every October and July, students walk past this bridge in sub fusc and gowns for:

• Matriculation — when new students formally join the University.
• Degree ceremonies — when students receive their degrees.
